What a week it has been! In addition to my launch one week ago, Dallas event season is definitely in full swing. The week kicked off with the Two x Two for Aids and Art preview tour on Monday evening at the home of Cindy and Howard Rachofsky, hosted by chairs of the DMA forum Lisa Moore and my friend Nasiba Hartland Mackie. I enjoyed listening to Howard’s insight on the artwork that will be displayed tonight at First Look and auctioned off Saturday at the gala.
Last night was Seeds of Africa’s first annual “Chefs and Seeds” at Trinity Groves, and we had so much fun sampling all the Ethiopian inspired dishes! I was honored to be a part of the host committee and to help raise money to build a dream school in Adama. Hundreds of children who otherwise would not have access to quality education will now be able to. Thank you so much to all of my friends who came out to support this great cause, and many congrats to my friend Atti Worku on such a successful evening.
The alarm clock came way too soon this morning. Flattered to be chosen for the second year, today I modeled for one of my favorite designers, Nha Khanh, at the Winspear Opera house.
In celebration of the opening of the Dallas Opera season, local designers were asked to create gowns based off of different operas for the First Sight luncheon and fashion show. La Bohéme was Khanh’s inspiration for my gorgeous gown, and I think she nailed it with her interpretation. I love the fabric and the way it moved on the runway. Very bohemian yet structured with a beaded neckline embellishment and a mesh slit. I’ll be wearing the gown on the red carpet tomorrow as guests arrive for the opera Figaro.
As far as the rest of the weekend goes, I hope to find some time to take it easy. Challenging as it may be this time of year, I’m reminded to find my libra sense of balance and not get pulled in too many directions.
Look forward to seeing you on the red carpet tomorrow and then calling it a week.. Happy (almost) Friday!
