I love making fresh green juice in the morning. My husband and I both notice a difference in our energy levels when we drink it, and I’m convinced that it makes your hair shiny and your skin glow.
Drinking fresh juice oxygenates and detoxifies your body by supplying vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients from the extracted enzymes. These nutrients protect against cancer, inflammatory disease, cardiovascular disease, and neutralize free radical damage caused by exposure to toxic chemicals and pollution.
My go to recipe is rich in chlorophyll :
- kale (5 branches)
- spinach (4 handfuls)
- half a large cucumber
- half a large green bell-pepper
- celery (4-5 stalks)
- some sprigs of parsley
- one carrot
- one apple (sliced in thirds to fit juicer)
- one lemon or half of a large one
- a scoop of Chia seeds (added to juice at the end)
When on the go, I’ll grab a cold-pressed Vim+Vigor juice from Number One in Highland Park Village where I frequently go for tea and almond milk lattes.
My favorite juice is the “Skinny Greens” (pictured below) from the Juice Bar in Inwood Village (conveniently located by WeYogis) which has a little cayenne to speed up your metabolism. It’s delicious.
