Greetings from Aspen!
We’re here for the Directors Invitational Ski Classic so I’m catching up while my husband races. Today I’m sharing pictures from my fun shoot at Lululemon on Knox Henderson this past Monday. While Lululemon does not carry a line specifically for maternity, they do have quite a few items that work throughout pregnancy. I collaborated with my friend Andrea Overturf of the blog Loubies and Lulu, who has also done a post on what Lulu pieces work while expecting. With her help, I picked out two outfits to feature that can expand with a growing belly due to their 4 way stretch material and functionality. I love being comfortable, even more so now that I’m expecting.
Here’s what I’m loving during my second trimester (photographed at 22 weeks) and why I find it functional.
I love wunder unders for both my yoga practice and to wear fashionably. They are stretchy yet very supportive so you don’t feel too exposed. I have a ton of pairs of the regular style waistband from prior to being pregnant, but I have found that the ones with the roll down waistband work great for pregnancy due to their higher, wider waistband. I’ve gone up one size to accommodate my bump so they land right at my belly button. I picked the patterns moody mirage white deep navy (more of a transitional spring floral look) and mystic jungle fatigue green black (a checkered, almost camo look).
When working out I like to be in fitted clothes. I’m currently maintaining a routine of yoga 2-3 times per week, reformer pilates once a week, and cardio twice a week. I really like this fitted navy long-sleeve shirt because it’s stretchy enough to be worn over a (small) baby bump.. it has lots of vents and tiny holes in it so that I can sweat without needing to remove a layer of clothing, which is nice in this chilly weather we’ve been having. Pregnant or not, it’s simply a good looking top and picks up the navy accents in the floral pattern of my wunder unders.
I knew when I spotted this cozy Merino wool sweater that it would work great for maternity. It has slits up the sides so it can grow with you as a layering piece. I had to have it when I saw that it was on sale for $59 (its now 50% off). I love this heathered light gray color paired with the patterned wunder unders and over the navy long sleeve. It’s the perfect transitional outfit for chilly weather heading into March.
This looser fitting tank with a built in bra is great for days that I don’t want to show off my belly so much. The pattern on the built in bra matches the pattern on the wunder unders I paired it with. I love wearing this earthy green color year round and this seriously light luon will be great for walking the trail in the warmer days ahead (hurry up spring!).
I’m obsessed with this rain jacket. It has two-layer twill fabric and strategically placed seams to keep your dry. It’s also very versatile with a stowaway hood and an expander along the back so that I can unzip as my belly grows during pregnancy. Right now I have mine zipped in the back, but it’s nice to know that I’ll have a lightweight rain jacket that will still fit when spring showers arrive.
I dressed up my lulu ensembles with my favorite Valentino boots. They land above the knee and are very comfortable.. I love the bows in the back and how they look with my Paige Skyline skinny maternity jeans or with wunder unders leggings as shown.
This is a great roomy bag to take me from yoga to lunch or coffee meeting. It has a wet/dry pocket to stow any sweaty garb, and an exterior compartment that holds a 15″ laptop.
I hope you have found these outfits helpful if you’re also expecting and looking for some comfortable options.. I’m planning another post for designer clothing brands that also work for maternity.
Feel free to share what pieces work for you while expecting, and stay warm!
