I discovered Neals Yard Remedies through my good friend and fellow model, Tracy Ripsin. Like myself, Tracy shares a passion for wellness, and we have spent a good amount of time over the years discussing skincare and all things to do with beauty.. She became such a fan of Neals Yard in particular that she’s now a consultant for the brand when she’s not busy on the runway or on set. I went to shoot Tracy’s products, and learned the following information from her:
“Neals Yard is a family owned company, founded over 30 years ago in London’s Covent Garden. Organic health and beauty is their passion, with a mission to transform people’s lives and protect the environment by encouraging a more natural and holistic way of living. NYR is the world’s first health and beauty company to be awarded 100/100 for ethics in an independent audit by the Ethical Company Organization.”
- Why choose organic? It’s best for both people and for the planet by reducing potential harm from pesticide and fungicide residues, artificial fertilizers and many other synthetic toxic chemicals.
- Why aren’t all NYR products 100% organic? “Organic” refers to products from certified organic agriculture. Not all ingredients are agricultural ingredients, such as water, salt and other minerals because they do not grow. Any mixture of oil and water can never be considered a 100% organic product.
- Why the blue bottle? It helps minimize the impact on the environment. The dark blue bottle is fully recyclable. It also blocks out UV rays that could potentially damage the products, resulting in minimum use of preservatives.
- Why Frankincense? It’s the most known ingredient for natural, anti-aging with powerful rejuvenating properties. It’s also enhanced with plumping plant extracts to tone and moisturize the skin.
I personally have become a fan of their shower gels, body scrubs, and body lotions. Since I’m such a believer in the power of aromatherapy, I slather the Frankincense and Mandarin lotion infused with jojoba, almond and pumpkin seed oils, on every night before bed.. it makes our bedroom smell like a spa.
The company has a wide range of body products from firming and toning body creams, body polishes, scrubs, shower gels, bath oils, cosmetics, and even deodorants. My mom is obsessed with their Rose Facial Oil and I love their organic lip gloss in the shade natural.
As much as I love the products for myself, I love them even more for London. They are ultra gentle and soothing with calming essential oils, no synthetic fragrances or dyes, non-GMO, talc-free, and paraben-free. I use their baby bath and shampoo and pure baby oil on her at every bath time. Since Neals Yard doesn’t carry a bubble bath, I alternate between California Baby and Honest brand, but for everything else I use Neal’s Yard. Their baby balm is my favorite of all the diaper rash balms I’ve tried, and I use it whenever London has a little dry patch or to prevent irritation from her diaper.
If you’re interested in trying some samples, reach out to Tracy via her site.. she’s a former aesthetician and knows all about skincare, so she can recommend products specifically for your needs..
