Wellness. What does that mean? To some, it may just mean not to be ill, to be functional. To others perhaps it means to be healthy and feeling good. But I believe that there is another level of wellness that many people don’t aspire to. To not only be happy and healthy, but to be mindful.
I think that I’m pretty perceptive of peoples energies, and when I encounter someone operating at their optimal level of wellness they can literally light up a room. They have that glow about them. Not to be confused with energy levels (high or low). People can have overwhelming energy but it doesn’t mean that they have optimal wellness. In fact, someone who goes overboard in their quest for health can actually be counteracting their efforts. The mind controls every cell in the body. If the mind is constantly thinking negative thoughts about food and diet and counting calories in high drive, that negativity resonates within your cells. If instead, the mind is calm and clear and rational then the body is in a better state.
That’s why yoga plays such an important part in my personal wellness. Yoga literally means “union” and is the calming of the whirling of the mind. Through a meditative state, we can calm our thoughts and drown out any sounds of negativity. The negativity that causes sickness in our cells. My hope for this section of the blog is that you find inspiration to be the best version of yourself, and to operate at your optimal level of personal wellness.
